The need may arise for updating the sub-location of multiple copies or all copies under a specific sub-location. To delete a sub-location, all copies in that sub-location must be moved to another sub-location. This can be done using the **Global copy edit** feature on the copies of that sub-location. 

## \uD83D\uDCD8 Instructions

The steps to perform this task are described below: 

1. From the Home/Search page in Library, Select the Libraries which has the desired sub-location. Like in the image below “London Personal Copy” is selected as it has the intended sub-location.

2. Uncheck the “Include Records without copies” and perform the search. This should return all copies under the selected Library and it’s sublocations.

3. From the search result page select all records returned. Then click on the “Global Copy Edit” button on the left. This will take you to the global copy edit page in the new admin application.

4. From the three column on the second tab:

    a) Select “**Sublocation**” from the “**Field to Modify**” column. 

    b) Must select “**Substitute**” On the “**Operation**” column. This is the most important selection, don’t select         any other options. 

   c) Must select “**Matching**” on the “**Operation Affect**” column. Otherwise the change will apply on all of the copies from the search result.

5. Now on the third step, select the current value and the new value properly. based on the this the matching current value/sub-location will be changed to the new value/sub-location. The copies which don’t have any sub-location i.e. don’t match the current value won’t be affected by this operation.

6. To finish the process click on the “Process Changes” button. The update task will be listed for action.

7. Once the process is completed, the task will be marked as done in the “**Recent Global Edit Tasks**” tab on the right hand side of the page.

Now the sub-location of the matching copies are changed. In other words the copies are moved to another sub-location. So the previous sub-location can be deleted if needed be.

> ℹ️ The only problem with this is you can’t have the information of who previously had it. So that info is lost.
