It is possible to require end users to accept a copyright notice before they are allowed to download the attachment. This applies to field types of file and Image.

 

**Enable copyrights per OPAC**

 

In order to enable this option you must enable the option 'Enable Copyrights' on the Options tab in OPAC Maintenance.

 

**Copyright notice set-up**

 

Next you must set-up the copyright notices you wish to be presented to your users, multiple notices can be set-up and assigned to each attachment. For example you may have copyright notice A which i for attached documents, and copyright notice B which is for images.

 

Navigate to System management > Security > Copyrights

 

Then select the OPAC you wish to configure the notice for, or select the 'All OPACs' option if the same notice should apply to all OPACs.

 

Click 'New', this will allow you to name your notice, this name will then be presented to you during cataloguing on attachments. Click Update to save the name.

Next expand the new entry you have created and click 'New' again. This will open a rich text editor to allow you to create the body of your copyright notice.

 

There is a language selector at the top of the pop-up screen to allow you to configure your notices in the correct display language for your users.

After completing your copyright notice, click Apply.

 

If necessary you can then set the default copyright notice. This will then be the notice selected by default every time you upload an attachment.

 

 

**Assigning a copyright notice**

 

After you have configured your notices you can apply them to attachments.

 

During cataloguing you will not see a drop down list for each uploaded attachment.

 

Only one copyright notice can be assigned to each file, but different notices may be used for different files in the same record.

**What an end user sees**

 

If a user now tries to download a record where a copyright notice has been applied they will first be presented with a pop-up detailing the copyright text you specified and will have the option to accept or cancel the request for download. They must tick the box to accept the copyright notice. 

 

We have created a new report available via the Modules > Reports menu which will allow you to report on how many users have accepted copyright notices.
