In order to mark copies as missing you must first create a fictitious user, this can be as basic as setting the surname to 'MISSING' and setting the account type as 'Fictitious'.

Once the user is created you need to create a copy display status, this is done by selecting missing as the copy status and selecting the new 'missing' user you created in the previous step. The description is what will be displayed to users in the copy grid.

To use the new copy status against a copy issue the missing copy to the user 'Missing'. This will change the copy status of the copy to 'Out'. You can also review the missing user account to see a collective list of all missing copies.
