This section describes the options around the Tax control provided in All Order Line > Costs pages.

---

The Taxes control allows you to enter any applicable Taxes that are included in the purchase of this Order Line.

When creating a new Order Line, the Taxes Control will be disabled by default and shown like this:

### Cost Inclusive

Allows you to specify if the Tax being applied is inclusive or exclusive of the Tax being applied.  By Default it is set to **No** and when you enter a Tax using the controls below, will update the Cost Summary Tax section accordingly.

You can change the setting to **Yes** by clicking on the slider which when you enter a Tax using the controls below, will update the Cost Summary Tax section accordingly.

### Tax

There are two key ways of adding Tax to the Order Line:

1. Use the Tax Drop down on the left
2. Manually Enter a Tax value or % using the controls to the right.

#### Tax Drop Down

The Tax Control drop down will contain all taxes that have been defined in [Tax Maintenance](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3278693).  In the following example, there are three taxes defined (for different countries that I may have offices and or order from)

By default no taxes is selected, simply select the appropriate Tax and the control to the right will automatically be populated and greyed out, as shown below:

If you hover above the greyed out control, you will see a Red No Entry icon.  If you want to enter manually, deselect the Tax on the left hand side and select the Empty entry at the top of the list.  This will then enable the right hand side but leave the previous value in place, but you can now change this.

#### Manual Entry

The control will be empty by default (Unless you have selected and then deselected a Tax) and will be set to Percent = **No**

The currency code that this order is using, will be shown and you can enter a value into the input box.  When you do this, the Tax Section in the Cost Summary will automatically.

If you want to manually enter a Percentage, simply click the Percent Slider to it moves to **Yes**

The % icon is then shown and in the input box you can enter a number that equals the Tax %.  When you do this, the Tax Section in the Cost Summary will automatically update.

#### Charge Tax to Accounts [New!]

If charges made against your accounts/budgets do **not **include the Tax costs of an order then you will not want to include the Tax cost.  This setting allows you to determine how this will work.

By Default, the control is set to **Yes:**

When it is set to Yes, the costs and taxes entered will automatically be included in the [accounts ](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3278397)section.

If you do not want them to be include, click on the slider control to switch the setting to **No**

This will ensure the tax element is recorded in the order but will not be charged to your accounts.
