The Loans function includes all tasks related to loans, renewals, returns and overdues, and requests and reservations.

Note that some loan operations can also be performed in other areas of the application:

# System settings

The Loans function requires certain system settings to be defined:

- definition of [loan periods](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3279247)
- definition of the [maximum number of loans allowed](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3277952) - this is defined in Access Permissions
- you may also wish to define [non-working days](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3279342) for the purpose of calculating due dates

> ℹ️ RFID can be set up to work with Soutron providing the RFID hardware is SIP-2 compatible. The settings are defined in System Configuration Maintenance ( [RFID setting](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3279619)[s](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3279619)).
