This method allows you to search the catalogue and then create an order for a specific catalogue item that you have retrieved.

This process creates both the main order and the order line entry for the item.

## Selecting the Catalogue record

Search for and view the catalogue record that you wish to order copies for, then click **Create new order** in the Order Actions menu.

> The first step is to select a supplier. The following screen appears, listing all the suppliers defined in the system:

> - select one of the existing suppliers:
>   - pick from the list by clicking **Select** next to the supplier name
>   - or, if the list is very long, do a search for the supplier by entering the name or code in the boxes at the top of the form
> - create a new supplier record if the one you want is not already in the list by clicking **Create new supplier** - this takes you to the normal [Supplier edit screen](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3278851)

> Whichever option you choose, the supplier window then closes, and you are taken to the Order Line Entry screen.

## Completing the order line entry

Once you have selected the supplier, the Order Line Entry screen opens as follows (only the top half of the screen is shown):

Notice that the the title and unique CID of the item you are ordering are displayed at the top of the screen.

This process also creates the [main order](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3278533) in the background - you will get to it once the order line entry has been completed.
