A permalink is a facility to create a URL that will direct a user to a specific record in the Soutron database. The facility may be used to embed a link to a resource in a Word document, web page or email.

 

> ⚠️ <span style="color: #000000">Note that this will not work if the system does not allow Guest access or if you use </span>[<span style="color: #000000">Active Directory</span>](https://soutron.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/HG/pages/3278493)<span style="color: #000000"> for logging in. In these cases, the link will just take you to the search screen.</span>

 

An example link is shown below.

 Taking the above URL as a starting point, there are two parts to change to make it work for your system:

  
 1. [demo.soutron.net](http://demo.soutron.net) should be changed to the URL used to access your catalogue. This may also necessitate removing the /library if this is not used in your particular setup.  

 

2. The CID number 4084 in this example needs to be changed to the CID of the record you wish to link to.
