The URL for a saved search can be used in the Welcome area, on any web page or in an email. When the link is clicked on the search is executed and the records are displayed.

One use for this is to put links on the End User's Welcome Page or in the Search Portal to provide access to core topics or subjects. Another use is to send what might be a a complex search, to an End User as a simple link to execute . It can be saved to direct the user to the saved search in the Saved Searches tab on the search screen, or the link can be sent in an email.

> ⚠️ This feature is NOT used to save a set of records. Each time the link is executed a new search is conducted so if records have been added or removed the search results will differ. Use the Collections feature to save records or use the Export function to output a list of results to a file or PDF

To create and place the saved search URL:

1. Prepare the search strategy in the system as normal

> ⚠️ Any search executed must be appropriate to the permissions that the end user who executes the search possesses. If the search is created by an Administrative staff member using Admin permissions, check that the search when executed by a person with fewer permissions, gains access to the right records you wish them to retrieve.

2. Save the search and give it an appropriate name

3. Once saved it is listed in the Saved or Shared Searches or Saved Reports under your account

4. Right-click on the link to the saved search and copy the link. This is the unqiue URL for that saved search

5. Now paste this link where it is needed:

- web pages (intranet or internet)
- emails
