**Guide to icons**   
Within the structure of the Thesaurus Management options, there are an assortment of icons and functionalities. Some of the features are standard Soutron Administration structural icons and can be found throughout the Soutron Administration Module.. Below is a short guide to the meaning of certain icons. **HINT**: Hovering the cursor over certain buttons briefly will result in short explanations of the functions of the buttons. The A-Z tab may contain certain different functionality icons than the Hierarchy tab. This is due to differences in permitted actions.   
**A-Z Tab**:  
> Macro (inline-media-image)

   
**De-select All button (blue)**: Click to deselect any and all options which you may have ticked in the alphabetic display.  
**New button (green) :** Use this button to create a new Thesaurus entry into the A-Z list.  
**Approve button (black)**: This button is used to "approve" thesaurus entries which are selected in the list. Approve is an optional feature of adding thesaurus entries. Your library may not use this feature. It is useful if an administrator wishes to preview any Thesaurus entries created by a staff member. Ask us how you can set this up if you are interested.  
**Delete button (red):** This button is used to delete term entries in the A-Z Thesaurus term list.

 This icon is used to refresh the display. It is useful if you have made changes   
and wish to see the list in a refreshed order.

 The question mark icon expands to display the Legend Map below. This explains some of the identifiers visible in various areas within the Thesaurus Management functions. It helps to explain the meaning of certain functional displays.

 This icon is used to expand the box including the tree terms. The display will expand to a full screen display of the tree terms. Then the below icon will appear, which contracts the box display to the regular size.

 This icon will contract the box into a smaller box. This icon appears if the user has chosen to expand the display area utilizing the above icon. It restores the display to the normal size.

 This icon expands and subsequently contracts the tree terms display box.   
  
Ticking the awaiting approval tick box in the display (example below) limits the term list to only those which are awaiting approval by an administrator. This will be useful only if your system is set up to require approval from an administrator before officially adding a new term to any Thesaurus list.

**Hierarchy tab**:   
Icons similar to the icons which display in the A-Z Tab also appear when viewing the hierarchy tab. However, there are some additional icons which are limited only to functionality while working within the Hierarchy tab.

This is the standard "refresh" icon which facilitates a refresh of the screen view.

 This is the standard lock icon. Clicking this icon will facilitate the unlocking of the display in order to utilize "drag and drop" facility. This may be used to change the position or level of a term (i.e. drag it to become a child term). After performing any action, it will be essential to "lock" the display again. This is similar to development within the Collections module within the Portal.

 When a display option is "unlocked", it will display with the red padlock in an unlocked position. Clicking on this icon will "lock" the display order in position and it will convert to the above "locked" display.

 The "expand" button will expand the display such that subfolders and associated terms will become visible.

 The "collapse" button will collapse the display such that subfolders and associated terms will not be immediately visible to the administrator at that time.  
The Expand and Collapse options are similar to utilizing the following symbols displayed in front of the term entries. See below for illustrative examples. Clicking on the symbols to the left of the term will expand or collapse the term display in a similar manner to using the blue buttons illustrated above. See below for examples:

 To expand the display, click on the **>** icon.

 To collapse the display, click on the downward pointing icon in the above example. This will then collapse the display to the display immediately above.   
All effort is being made to utilize standard action icons throughout the Administration Module. Many of these icons will appear within other functionality.
